Yamaji Miho

山路美保

 

A Japanese musician, a prominent koto and shamisen player

 

Teacher at the Okayama University. Member of the Doseikai and Morinokai societies. Graduate of both Tokyo National University of the Arts and Hogaku Ginosha Ikuseikai (The Institute for Promoting Traditional Music of Japan).

 

Mrs. Miho Yamaji was trained under the guidance of Mrs. Kazue Sawai. She has recited numerous concerts, including those in Australia (several tours), Austria and South Korea, as well as in the Hawaii, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. In 2001, she issued her first albums “Refrain” and “Kishi (Hymn) Ren Men” together with Andrew MacGregor, an Australian shakuhachi player.

 

Her concerts were broadcasted on the ABC Radio and were a success. In 2002, she was invited to participate in the International Shakuhachi Festival in Australia as an official instructor of koto playing.

 

Yamaji Miho has been teaching a Japanese music class (koto, shamisen) at the Center “World Music Cultures” of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory.
