CATERINA GREWE

 

  

German-Japanese pianist Caterina Grewe was born in Tokyo and began to play the piano at the age of four. She studied with Ilse Laue and Gabriele Wulff at the Hamburg Conservatory, with Bernard Roberts at Chetham’s School of Music, and Yonty Solomon, Ian Jones, Dmitri Alexeev and Vanessa Latarche at the Royal College of Music (RCM), where she gained a Bachelor of Music, and in 2012, a Master of Music in Performance.

 

Caterina has won numerous prizes including first prize at the Nissin International Music Competition in Tokyo, the German Young Musician Competition, the Kendal Taylor Beethoven Piano Prize in the RCM Beethoven Piano Competition, the Intercollegiate Beethoven Piano Competition, the Lagny-sur-Marne International Piano Competition, the Norah Sande Award, the RCM Concerto Competition and most recently, first prize at the fourth Mayenne International Piano Competition in France.

 

She has given recitals at the Bath Pump Room, the Steinway Hall in both London and Hamburg, Winchester Cathedral, Cadogan Hall and the Mozartsaal in Hamburg. Caterina made her concerto debut with the Classic Philharmonic Orchestra Hamburg, and has performed Dvořak’s Concerto in G minor with the Oldenburgisches Staatsorchester in Germany. Forthcoming performances include Liszt’s Concerto no 1 at the Wimbledon Festival.
