A Chinese musician and musicologist. A prominent dizi, xiao and xun player.
Professor of the Tianjin Conservatory of Music, Chief Librarian and Director of its Information Center. Member of the Association of Chinese Musicians. He graduated from the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in 1985 and has been teaching there since 1987.
In 1987, Wang Jianxin became a laureate of the International Jiangnan Sizhu Music Competition in Shanghai. In 2001, he was conferred a degree of Doctor of Arts by Beijing Academy of Chinese Arts. Wang Jianxin has given recitals in Belarus, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore and the USA. He is an author of numerous publications on Chinese music history and theory, as well as has been organizing and holding various events related to performances of Chinese music on a permanent basis.
Wang Jianxin has been teaching a Chinese music class, which was opened in 2001 within the Center “World Music Cultures.” He has been a permanent participant of the scientific and creative program “The Universe of Sound.”
